Strategic alliance chosen to power Romania’s energy future

Bucharest, May 2025

Two companies with strategic roles in Romania’s energy ecosystem, WALDEVAR Energy and Prime Batteries, are contributing to the development of the “Da Vinci New Project,” a large-scale photovoltaic park located in Nanov, Teleorman County owned by Alive Capital, forming a strategic alliance. Spanning 247,000 square meters, the solar park will have a total installed capacity of 26.002 MWp, of which 23 MWp are financed through Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Component C6: Energy, with the remaining 3 MWp funded from the developer’s own resources. The system will include 44,448 photovoltaic panels supported by 78 inverters.

A standout feature of the project is the integration of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), with an installed capacity of 5 MW and a total storage capacity of 10 MWh, supplied by Prime Batteries. This component enhances operational flexibility and grid balancing capabilities, contributing to the stability of energy supply.

According to technical estimates, the “Da Vinci New Project” will generate approximately 35,022 MWh annually – the equivalent of the consumption of around 14,590 households. The project will reduce CO₂ emissions by 88,310 tons per year, with an estimated primary energy production equivalent of 3,057.82 toe (tonnes of oil equivalent). This partnership reflects a pragmatic approach to modern energy infrastructure development, combining WALDEVAR Energy’s execution and development expertise, Alive Capital’s asset management capabilities, and the advanced storage technology provided by Prime Batteries.

Compania Waldevar, spezialisiert auf die Planung, den Bau und die Inbetriebnahme von Energieanlagen in verschiedenen Dimensionen, mit einer Erfahrung von 13 Jahren in der Industrie, hat im Jahr 2023 einen Umsatz von 25,7 Mio. Euro in den ersten drei Monaten des Jahres erzielt, ein Wert, der über dem des Jahres 2023 liegt (10,1 Mio. Euro). - Wie entwickeln sich die Aktivitäten im Bereich der Energieerzeugung im Jahr 2024 und wie kann man glauben, dass sie sich im Laufe der Zeit verändern werden?

- Depinde din ce perspectiva privim aceasta evolutie. La nivelul intregii ramuri nu putem vorbi de o evolutie spectaculoasa, daca ne raportam la ceea ce se intampla in Europa, unde interesul pentru dezvoltarea sectorului verde este mult mai mare. Die Schätzungen für den Beginn des Jahres 2024 gehen davon aus, dass Rumänien bis dahin 4 GW an Photovoltaikanlagen installiert haben wird, während Deutschland etwa 70 GW installiert haben wird. Daca esti pesimist, vezi diferenta enorma. Daca esti optimist, vezi potentialul de crestere. Das Unternehmen Waldevar Energy hat einen Vertrag über die Errichtung von Anlagen mit einer Gesamtkapazität von 800 MWp abgeschlossen. Das Unternehmen EPC - proiectare, achizitii si constructie - hat die für den Betrieb einer Photovoltaik-Anlage erforderlichen Dienstleistungen im eigenen Haus erbracht, und zwar in der Zeit, die für die Weiterentwicklung der Anlage benötigt wird. – Fiind un contractor EPC, componenta de achizitii este extrem de importanta pentru noi, fiind si un diferentiator in fata competitorilor. Lucram cu furnizori pe care ii consideram parteneri, pentru ca reprezinta lideri in domeniile lor. Relatia cu acestia nu se limiteaza doar la aspectul contractual, prioritar de altfel, ci trimitem echipe WALDEVAR Energy care se specializeaza si invata sa utilizeze echipamentele sau produsele folosite. Avem exemplul celor de la Prysmian, lider mondial in solutii de cabluri, care ofera cea mai larga gama de produse, tehnologii si know-how pentru cablarea parcurilor fotovoltaice, unde colegii mei au avut instructaje de specialitate, precum si al producatorilor de invertoare si panouri fotovoltaice, echipamente primare si secundare de statii electrice, cu care conlucram indeaproape atat in timpul etapei de inginerie, cat si la instalare, testare si punere in functiune. Utilizam drone utilitare pentru scanari, cum ar fi DJI Matrice M600 PRO cu GPR – Ground Penetrating Radar – care scaneaza solul pana la o adancime de 4 metri pentru identificarea eficienta a straturilor geologice, a eventualelor cabluri sau conducte, fundatii sau artefacte. Cea mai performanta drona din portofoliul Waldevar Energy este DJI Matrice M350 RTK, cu sistem IMU pentru cartografierea si colectarea datelor geospatiale cu inalta precizie. Ca EPC, folosim acest senzor in etapa de pre-proiectare pentru a beneficia de toate informatiile necesare atunci cand dezvoltam un parc. Aceeasi drona integreaza un senzor full-frame cu lentile interschimbabile cu focalizare fixa, pe un cardan stabilizat pe 3 axe. Este proiectata pentru misiuni de zbor de fotogrammetrie si ne ofera eficienta si acuratetea de care avem nevoie. Folosim acest accesoriu pentru monitorizarea activitatilor din santier, progresul proiectului si mentenanta.

- Care sunt directiile de actiune viitoare, in vederea dezvoltarii companiei?

Focus on regional cooperation for energy balancing Romania’s clean energy potential

Cristian Dragomir, CEO of WALDEVAR Energy had the honor to speak on the first panel, which focused on 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲, as well as 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐩 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚.

The importance of these meetings of key market players cannot be disputed. Clean energy is growing rapidly, as annual deployment of several key technologies has surged ahead in recent years driven by policy support and continued cost declines. Their growth is starting to make a dent on emissions and reshape energy markets. In the meantime, IRENA calls for annual renewable power additions of almost 1 TW on average by 2030 to keep the climate target within reach. Electrification and energy efficiency are the key transition drivers towards a cleaner future powered by PV and wind energy, green hydrogen, and biomass.

Also, other types of renewables and low-carbon gases will play a key role, alongside other technologies towards achieving climate neutrality along the goals set forth by the European Green Deal and the interim goals for 2030 expressed by the Fit for 55 Package.

We are proud that WALDEVAR Energy provided the energy for two talented young man to represent #Romania at the World Robot Olympiad in Puerto Rico Alexandru Diac, 14 years old, and Cosmin Bobe 15 years old, both members of the #InventikaPlaceClub, traveled accompanied by their instructor Iulian Dima to American continent for this creative competition. They are competing in the #RoboMissionSenior category with a #robot built exclusively using g#Lego Spike Prime set. Waldevar Energy team is keeping the fingers crossed although, for us, they are winners anyway! Go Romania!
